Amalfi coast or capri?

i am visiting rome , florence ,venice and would like to go either to amalfi coast ... where should i stay ? should i stay some where on the amalfi coast or on the island of capri, which one is more beautiful . Also if you could recommend a good hotel where we can stay . Even if its expensive . thanksAmalfi coast or capri?
I did the same trip as what you want to go. I first went to rome and spent some good time there for about 5 days then took a train over to i think it was salerno where you will take a car to the amalfi coast. I stayed in Positano for a couple of days and even took a day trip to capri. Warning you though capri is very expensive and so is all the amalfi coast. Then took a car from positano the napoli and took the train from there to florence and i think we had to stop back in rome too but it was a pretty quick ride. Stayed in florence, which was my favorite city in italy. stayed a couple of days and even took a day trip out to siena. Then took the train from florence to venice and enjoyed the last couple of days there. the whole time was great. hope you have fun
I have recently visited the Amalfi coast, which is wonderful, but you'd better have a car to visit it. Otherwise you would have to take a train to Salerno and then use local buses, which will limit your freedom of moving around the coast.

Both are beyond beautiful.....but Capri, being Capri and all, the hotels can run on the expensive side, it milk the tourists. You can always stay on the coast, and just visit Capri.



That's the way I'd go. Of course, staying in a nice 5 star Hotel on Capri, ain't too shabby either, if ya got the bucks to blow.
