Planning a trip to Italy and eloping?

Trying to plan a 14-16 day trip to Italy from Boston this September. We want to get married in Rome and also spend a week there. We want to include a 2-3 day Venice trip and spend the rest of our stay relaxing on the Amalfi coast.

Any thoughts on the best way to get these 3 places in. I鈥檓 open to doing Venice first if that would make it easier.

You biggest problem will be the wedding, planning the holiday is easy. Are you booking a wedding planner in Rome? If not, you really need to contact your nearest Italian Consulate and ask for information on arranging a legal marriage in Italy. There is a lot of paperwork required, and you need to remember to bring all the required documents from home. Here's a link to the relevant page of the Italian Embassy in Washington's website: http://www.ambwashingtondc.esteri.it/Amb鈥?/a>

You might find it easier to have a quiet civil wedding in the States, and then enjoy a stress-free honeymoon in Italy.
Go to google and look up flights Boston to Italy, and see which flight stops where.

Best way to get around Italy is to take the train. You can simply buy your ticket at the railway station in Rome (Termini), and it's best to do it the day before. Ask them to explain what all the bits on the tickets mean, as you can't just hop on the train and sit anywhere, seats are allocated. If you google booking train tickets in Italy, you might be able to book ahead of time and get a discount.

After Sorrento, you will be using the bus on the Amalfi coast, but you could also hire vespas or similar to get around.Planning a trip to Italy and eloping?
