I'm planning a 10 days vacation to Venicia, Florence, Rome, Napoly, Amalfi coast in a comfy motorhome. Do you think it is a good idea?Is it safe to go to Italy with motorhome?
Of course you can MILLIONS of people from all over the world do that every year in Italy and they enjoy very much also Italy is VERY SAFE safer than most of other European countries so your holidays are going to be fantastic, enjoy it!
i'm curious to know where ICAL found statistics or news to write those bullshits
well according official statistics the higher number of vehicle thefts in italy are found in 3 regions Lazio (central italy), Lombardy (north Italy), Campania (south italy)

could you write the names rental agreements for cars that are not valid in the south italy?? please tell me i'm curious. moreover naples doesn't represent southern italy, it is only the chieftown of campania
according to the question hundred thousands tourists travel with motorhome in italy every yearIs it safe to go to Italy with motorhome?
In my opinion your biggest problem may well be the actual driving! Have you ever driven in Italy before? The cities tend to be mad - especially Rome. I wouldn't suggest trying to drive central Rome and Florence in a motor home unless you have experience of driving in Italy or are at least a very confident driver.
On the other hand, sounds like a lot of fun! Dont neccesarily be put off, just be careful, and make sure your insurence/health insurence covers everything you intend to do.
I don't know where people get the idea of theft and crime in Italy. There is crime everywhere!
Ok to answer your question, yes it is safe and it can be done, but i am not sure whether 10 days would be enough to see all the places you want to see. If you include travelling and time in the places it would be quite tight and you wouldn't see much.
As someone else said, if you don't have experience of driving in Italy i wouldn't attempt it. I live just over an hour north of Naples and often visit Naples/Sorrento and the Amalfi coast in the summer. if you are not used to italian driving it can be a very long and stressful journey. The Amalfi coast is very narrow and windy and could be a bit complicated in a motor home. (i have spent many hours in my car trying to get parked up in Amalfi, when it's high season)
I don't know when you plan to travel, but if it is between june and sept (esp july/aug) these are the busiest months. Driving around the biggest cities in these months could mean long traffic jams and passing a lot of your time in traffic.
I would reccomend maybe arriving in one airport and leaving from another and visiting the cities inbetween by train. Train fares are quite cheap.
Or another option would be arriving with a motor home to just outside the cities you want to visit and travelling in to sightsee/visit by either train or bus. But limit the places you want to visit to have the best holiday.
Motor-homes are popular enough in Italy. There are parking places around most of the country and out side of major cities. I think it's a grand idea.... Jut make sure you use the motor-home parks and don't take the vehicle into the cities. Keep it where it will be secured in a compound (with other motor-homes).
I tend to think it is safe to go to Italy with motorhome, based on seeing many Italian motorhomes touring around Kent %26amp; Surrey.
Well petty crime is a problem in Italy (though far less than most countries) and car theft is also. It tends to happen more in the south than the north so Naples may well be a problem. In fact, check your insurance because some rental agreements for cars are not valid if you're in the south.
Italian drivers are mad! hehe I would never drive there...
