Would any of you kind people out there know of accomadtion along Amalfi coast...can I get there by train from Rome...how long would it take...sorry I know there is more than 1 question here :)Amalfi coast accommodation... Italy?
Take the train to Naples (Napoli), then you need to take the Circumvesuviana line to Sorrento, and goes around the Bay of Naples. Altogether this will take about three and a half hours.
After that, it depends on where you want to go to along the coast, and from Sorrento you can take the bus further. I loved Positano, it was mad, perched on the cliffs. I'd advise working on your fitness before going there. While you're there, what with all the walking you'll be doing, you can eat whatever you like!
Sure. Go to Scoobit.com, the hotel search engine at http://www.scoobit.com Switch the language to English, then fill the form with city name (Amalfi) and leave the address field blank. Then click on "Search hotel". I went to Hotel Residence, nice and clean place, you're gonna love it, but feel free to choose the hotel that best fits your needs. It's a safe website I've used many times so far, and you can book on line.
Yes you can get to Amalfi by train from Rome. It takes between 3 and 4 hours. Timetables avaiable at http://www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html

We based ourself in sorrento you can then take a lazy boat trip which is lovely or go by road with hair pin bends and fantastic views. I would recomend you try both.Me and hubby had a great time.
If you really want the Italian experience look online and rent a VILLA.
