The amalfi Coast, Italy...?

I am planning a trip to Italy sometime next April and was just wondering where i should stay. I am going with my mom and we aren't exactly experianced travelers (this will our first time in Europe...) I really am in love with the Amalfi Coast, but I also would love to visit Pompeii or Herculenium(sp?) I was thinking of staying in Positano, but I'm not sure how to get around or what hotels to stay at. if you have any pointers or feed back that would be awesome...

If you can afford it....seems very expensive I think is better you ask in a travel agency and not plan on your own...I would choose Capri as well is very beautiful (but expensive)The amalfi Coast, Italy...?
I suggest you stay in Sorrento. I'm not sure there is any place to stay in Amalfi or Positano. I know you can stay in Sorrento. It's a big tourist town. Lots of people speak English. Someone at your hotel should be able to tell you how to get to where you want to be. There are tours that leave from Sorrento to Positano, Amalfi, and Capri. You can take the train to Pompei. Pompei is closer to Naples but I don't suggest you stay there. It's close enough to Sorrento to go during a day.



There are beaches at Sorrento but the beaches at Amalfi are sooo much better. I'm not sure how it will be in April. I went in June.
