We are two girls travelling to Italy, and will be spending most of our time in southern Italy. How long should we stay on the Amalfi Coast? Is there much to see and do? Is there much budget accommodation? What area should we stay in? Can we rent mopeds? Are beaches open to the public or privately owned?? Any help would be appreciated!Travelling in Italy, Amalfi Coast?
I am just the right person to answer this question...
I'm Italian have lots of relatives in Amalfi and I used to go there on holiday when I was a kid...
First of all congratulations for picking possibly the most beautiful seaside destination in the world...the scenery is absolutely breathtaking!!
The towns around the Amalfi coast are not very big but they are very cosy and the beach is always open to the public...you can rent scooters if you wish to do so and you should be able to find cheap accomodations (sorry if I cannot be more specific on the latter but as I told you I have lots of relatives there and never had to worry about where I would sleep)...
Amalfi is the most famous of all the towns but Positano is also very nice, though the views in Amalfi are unbeatable...
I would suggest to stay at least a week...but it all depends how long you are gonna stay in Italy...
Have fun!!
We have driven along the coast but never spent the night there. It's beautiful. Try the fantastic pastries in a pasticceria! They're unbelievable!Travelling in Italy, Amalfi Coast?
