Amalfi Coast Italy, getting around?

I will probably be staying in Sorrento (unless anyone has a better suggestion) and will be taking the bus to visit the other towns and villages and inside Sorrento as well.

Where can i find information on bus rides, price, scheduals? Is there a bus that can take you from one town to another? From Sorrento to Positano to Ravello etc. and back?

I will be staying for a week, is there a weekly bus pass or region pass that gives you unlimited access to buses?

Also any other suggestions and advice on visiting the Amalfi coast is very appreciated.

Thank youAmalfi Coast Italy, getting around?
Yes you can get a bus to all those places it is not expensive and I am almost sure they run hourly.

You buy the tickets at the local newpaper shops then cancel them as you board the bus. Just ask when you get there, you will soon find some one who speaks English. You can get heavily fined for bumming a ride free so don't try it. Your hotel reception will be only too pleased to explain where everything is. You can NOT pay the driver.

There is a very good and efficient network of public transport, the trains are great too and if you want to go to Pompeii the train calls into the site. Herculaneum I think is better but is less well known, it is smaller, more compact. Just walk straight down the street from the train station, it seems a long way because you are in a strange place but it is not that far. Plenty of guide books in English around for you to buy and study when you get there, not too expensive.

Sorrento is great, if you can find the 'Foreigners Club'. It has magnificent views where you can sit and watch whilst enjoying. a glass or three of wine. Cheaper during the day than the evening the cost of food and drink is nearly twice as much at night but there is usually operatic style entertainment.

Try a ferry trip to Capri as well, it is a beautiful island. Very select.

Every thing is simple enough, it is a bit hilly so I hope you are fit and reward yourself with the ice cream..wonderful. Eating out can be expensive and in Italy they can charge extra if you sit down rather than stand up and have a coffee. Plenty of good food to be found in bakeries to buy and sit and eat on a park bench.

We even managed to get the train to Naples, and got around the city. We were warned it was 'not safe' but I think it was the tour reps wanting us to pay for excursions.

There are not any beautiful sandy beaches to sit on nor is there much in the way of 'night life' as there is in some resorts, it is a very refined place 00Amalfi Coast Italy, getting around?
There are bus and ferry schedules here: http://www.amalficoastweb.com/amalfi/eng鈥?/a>

While you're there, be sure to take the train from Sorrento to Pompeii. You'll want the Pompei Scali Villa Misteri stop. The entrance to the ruins is right across the street from the train station. There's a trip planner for the Circumvesuviana trains here: http://www.vesuviana.it/web/en The trip takes 25 minutes and costs 鈧?1.90 each way.
