Backpacking in europe for 1 month, staying in hostels, and traveling by eurorail. What are some tips on packing and preparing? What are some must haves? This is my first time traveling and want it to be a great experience, PLEASE HELP!Traveling in Europe for 1 month....HELP!!?
My biggest piece of advice is that you need a LOT less than you think. Everyone wants to cram all kinds of junk in their packs and it just makes it heavy to carry around.
Very important: Bring a pair of sandals for the showers/bathrooms. The floors in many of them you wont want to be barefoot on.
Bring a padlock for the lockers in the hostels, so you can secure your camera, passport, and any money you've got on hand. A money belt is also a good idea both to keep your important papers on you at all times and just to keep them organized and avoid losing them.
You don't need many changes of clothes, you'll wear em till they get too dirty and then do your laundry. Many people will just have a pair of jeans, a pair of shorts, and few shirts. Add in miscellaneous stuff like socks, underwear, a swimsuit, a hat, etc and before you know it your pack will fill right up even with such a small amount of clothes! Bring plenty of socks and underwear though, you'll want to have those fresh! ;-) Try to choose clothes carefully so that they make sense in multiple situations. For example, a shirt that looks casual enough to wear around your hostel but also could work when going out (eg, a shirt that doesn't make you look like a dirty backpacker)
A closeable knife or a lightweight multi-tool can be handy as well.
Good shoes.
Rain gear.
Layer your clothes!!
Neck pouch for your passport. Keep your passport with you at all times, not in a bag, on you. Wallet in the front pocket too.Traveling in Europe for 1 month....HELP!!?
I lived in Italy for a month too. Make sure you take the right $ with you, and remember that their outlet plugs are different, so be sure to bring along an adapter! lol I learded that the hard way
