Is Amalfi coast in Italy a rural area or is it a tourist location?

I'm looking to move to Italy for a year or so before college and was wondering if Amalfi is touristy and what other places would be good that are rural with cheap apartments and work opportunities.

10 points for best answer. thxIs Amalfi coast in Italy a rural area or is it a tourist location?
The Almalfi coast is one of the major tourist destinations here - very crowded during the peak tourist season. It's a spectacular coastal area which is relatively quiet in the off-season, but it isn't rural.

Cheap apartments don't really exist here. My one bedroom apartment in a small town in northern Italy costs me about the same as my four bedroom house in Colorado. Energy costs are relatively high.

Right now, there aren't a lot of work opportunities for anyone throughout Italy. You also need to know that your ability to find work will depend heavily on where you're coming from. If you're an EU citizen, you have the right to live and work within the EU. However, if you're not a citizen, you need a visa that allows work. A company basically has to show that the job requires special skills or experience that aren't readily available from an EU citizen in order to get a work permit for you. The work permit is required for the visa.
it's not a rural area, it's one of the most preferred place by tourists. It's near the sea, food is great and people are kind. But it's not so cheap. I think that maremma is cheaper than Amalfi coast. Besides it, maremma has many agriturismi that are rural hotels not expensive. And they usually have riding horse activities and excursions. It's near the coast where you can find easily a job because it's attended by tourists and English language is welcome especially if you work for ferries offices. Is Amalfi coast in Italy a rural area or is it a tourist location?
It's a turistic place, by the Tirrenean sea, in the south west coast of Italy.

Is between Naples and Sorrento.

Work is something missing in general in Italy.

But if you still want to come, try in the region of Umbria, in central Italy.(Region capital city Perugia)

Or look at the inner part of the regions Tuscany and Marche, both central one on the east the other on the west coast

even italians have to go through this torture

salerno is a very pretty city near the amalfi
Hi I have been to Sorrento my ex bf from there. It is a tourist place. There are many villages surrounding Sorrento with great access. The Village I stayed in was called Nerano.
Its not Rural but more laid back relaxing resort. Its sort of like hidden secret for riches and educated tourists.
Amalfi is a tourist place! good luck!
