I will be traveling to Italy in early September and would like to know the best way to explore the Amalfi Coast. I was wondering if it made sense to use Naples as a base and take day trips from there, or to jump around more and stay in several places. Any suggestions?Tips of visiting the Amalfi Coast in Italy?
No, in order to visit Amalfi coast, Naples is not a good choice (actually Naples is not even on the Amalfi coast); Salerno is a far better choice, being the biggest cities on the coast, easy to reach by train; from there you can actually visit all the towns both on the sea and on the mountains taking buses for daily trips.
Sorento is better than Naples. Visit Positano, Amalfie, and take a boat trip to Capri. Awesome!Tips of visiting the Amalfi Coast in Italy?
By far Sorento to stay, My wife felt safe enough to travel by bus to several of the villages along the coast. Just remember that you usually walk down hill, and the trip back can be very tiring
