how much would it cost to stay in hostels for two months while backpacking in europe i have about 10000 but i only want to spend around 6000 would that be enough for food taxis to and from the eurorail and also hostels what is the average cost for a hostel.Backpacking in europe?
If this is in dollars, $6000 for two months sounds ok. That's about $100 a day. (鈧?2.80 at current exchange rate) That wouldn't include your flight, but would include food, hostels, sights, and public transportation (metro/subway, buses, trams... do NOT take taxis!). It will include at least some of the cost of your city-to-city transportation (eurail) too but perhaps not all. Depends on how much the pass you get costs.
Check out some of the backpacking websites I've listed below, they are a great help!
I spent about $2200 over three weeks when I went to Europe in Spring 2007 (not counting airfare). Exactly how much you spend tends to depend on exactly where in Europe you're going and your spending habits, but budgeting $100/day is probably pretty reasonable estimate. Plan on spending about $6000 (not including airfare) for two months. That should cover:
*Rooms in youth hostels.
*Food (eating out semi-frequently but not in fancy restaurants) You can save a lot of money if you cook for yourself in hostels.
*Drinking a little but not too much.
*Transportation by Train between cities (Look into a Eurrail pass)
*Public Transportation in cities (avoid taxis whenever possible)
*Entrance fees to attractions
Some random suggestions:
*Check out www.hostelworld.com and www.hostelbookers.com. These sites let you book a room in a youth hostel pretty much anywhere on the planet, and have user generated reviews which tend to be pretty accurate. They should also give you a sense of how much it will cost to stay in any given location for a night.
*Southern Europe is generally cheaper than Northern Europe; East is cheaper than West. If you want to save money spend more time in Spain and Italy than in Scandanavia or the UK.Backpacking in europe?
Youth Hostels cost about 25 - 30.00 US/night.
You don't take taxis when you are backpacking. You take buses.
Food? Depends. I'm sure, if you live on bread and butter and bottled water, you'll be fine.
If you eat at expensive restaurants, you might run out.
Check out http://www.hihostels.com
This should cover your Hostel needs. The cost varies but expect to pay between 鈧?8 and 鈧?5 per person per night.
I have used them many times and found them to be safe, clean and well managed.
Have fun
