What should I see travelling Spain for three weeks?

My girlfriend and I are looking to spend three weeks travelling Spain this September/October. We are going to fly out from the UK to one city and fly back from another. I'd like to stay in six or seven places and will travel between them by train using a Eurorail pass.

Which places MUST we see? I'd like to spend a maximum of four nights in any one place and I certainly want to stay in Ronda and Sevilla. I want to spend at least half the time on the coast. I would like to see some of the north as well, maybe two cities there. Should I see Madrid? Barcelona? Any towns like Ronda that are nice to see?

Any more advice for a first-time tourist in Spain? Thanks. :)What should I see travelling Spain for three weeks?
Unless you can get a youth pass, the Eurail is NOT worth it! (If you are getting a Youth pass for two weeks, you could make it worthwhile, but I would suggest doing some comparison shopping before making a purchase, there)

That said, the buses are going to take longer. I find them pretty cramped, but that's just me...I love the trains in Eurpoe.

When you ask what to see, do you want recommendations for places in each city? or do you want us to tell you which cities to go to?

I think, for most people, three days in Sevilla is enough, and two in Granada. I don't know Tarifa at all, and am a bit surprised that you know to see Ronda...it's a city I recommend...and love...two to three days there, depending on what you want to do. I could have spent more than the one day we did...there are a number of interesting things to visit, and a bunch of hiking and biking that are popular in the area.

Barcelona...most people can do the highlights in about four days.

You don't want to miss C贸rdoba...one day, even as a day trip from Sevilla.

You could take the bus through the Pueblos Blancos between Arcos de la Frontera and Ronda...that probably takes about a day. I have no idea what sorts of packages you would take to hop on hop off, or whatever there is...And if you like Sherry, you should tour a bodega at Jerez de la Frontera Yummmmmmm! Something I've been trying to do for almost 30 years! I seem to keep hitting it on holy days, when everything is shut down!

Between the Andaluz border and Barcelona? Valencia...you could stop there. Alicante is supposed to be very pretty, too. Or just stop when something strikes your fancy.
DO NOT miss Barcelona. I was just in Italy for four months and I really regret not being able to go to Barcelona. It is like nothing you will ever see. The architecture is overwhelming, and it is full of art and life.

I think it has something for everyone. There is a big art scene, there is a big party scene, a lot of history there. What should I see travelling Spain for three weeks?
I would definitely visit Barcelona over Madrid. Barcelona is on the beach, has great sites, really good nightlife and alot of interesting architecture. Try to stay near Las Ramblas street if you do go to Barcelona and be sure to have a Sangria while there.
