I'm asking a lot of travel questions tonight! LoL But I'm just doing the preliminary research for my Europe trip next September with friends, and I'll probably ask a lot more over time!
Anyways, we're travelling to Europe next September (as mentioned), doing this on our own (no tour group), and price really doesn't matter as between 3 people we will have well over $15,000 CAD saved up. We're mainly into sightseeing and history -- but we do have a goal of having a "party night" in every city. We're also going to invest in a Eurorail pass when the time is right, so transportation to places won't be an issue.
Anyways, enough rambling, here is a preliminary itinerary ... any suggestions?
Sept. 5 -- Dublin (where we all meet up since we're flying from different places)
6 -- Dublin
7 -- Dublin
8 -- Dublin
9 -- Dublin to Rome (flight)
10 -- Rome
11 -- Rome
12 -- Rome
13 -- Rome
14 -- Rome to Venice
15 -- Venice
16 -- Venice
17 -- Venice to Munich
18 -- Munich (visit Dachau concentration camp)
19 -- Munich to Berlin
20 -- Berlin
21 -- Berlin
22 -- Berlin
23 -- Berlin
24 -- Berlin to Amsterdam
25 -- Amsterdam
26 -- Amsterdam
27 -- Amsterdam
28 -- Amsterdam
29 -- Amsterdam to Paris
30 -- Paris
Oct. 1 -- Paris
2 -- Paris
3 -- Paris
4 -- Paris
5 -- Paris to London
And then possibly fly home, or hang around in London for a bit.
Does this seem reasonable (ie. the days involved for each city?)
Any input would help! Thanks! How does this European itinerary look?
That looks doable, and not impossible.
I would suggest NOT going to Dachau unless you feel you absolutely must, it's an incredibly sad and disturbing place and full of tormented ghosts. Not a place to go if you're in any way sensitive. Munich has many other great places to visit.
Your money should hold out if you stay in budget accommodation and don't eat in expensive restaurants. Check that you can use your ATM cards in Europe, much safer than carrying wads of cash around. How does this European itinerary look?
I would drop one day in Berlin and add a day to Munich. Visit the mountains to the south of Munich, and that could include: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuschwanst鈥?/a>
Visiting Dachau can be a valuable experience, but the first answer is correct and the place is disturbing %26amp; depressing. Don't let Dachau be your only memory of Munich.
